As if they were walking on water

Sábado por la mañana. Demasiado pronto … las semanas de trabajo se están volviendo más y más duras a medida que se aproximan las vacaciones … la noche ha sido muy calurosa y no se puede dormir bien … el despertador esta programado a las 7:15 de la mañana … demasiado duro … pero más duro aún es que no necesito despertador, porque Pol se despierta a las 7 … y hace saber a todo el mundo que esta despierto y que quiere jugar …

Pero tengo una cita importante: he quedado a las 8:30 en Cabrera de Mar con Oliver y Sergi, como punto final de nuestra I Travesía SUP Montgat-Cabrera . Tiene muy buena pinta.

No obstante, el primer traspiés es que el punto previsto para el inicio, esta impracticable y tenemos que conducir más al sur hasta “La Rotonda”, donde empezará nuestra travesía entre hordas de bañistas llenando ya las playas y los parkings. El mar estaba en calma a-b-s-o-l-u-t-a como si fuese una balsa de aceite y las aguas cristalinas que permitían ver el fondo, como escenario para empezar a remar pausadamente hacia nuestra meta.

Esta es una travesía totalmente costera, siguiendo el perfil de los pueblos de Masnou, Permià, Vilassar i finalmente Cabrera, con los dos puertos de Masnou y Premià en medio del camino. La travesía fue fácil, pero larga, debido a la ausencia total de viento, y un poco larga para mi, pues mi talón lesionado empezó a doler ya desde el inicio y durante toda la travesía, obligandome a hacer dos paradas para darle tiempo al tendon de recuperarse de la presión constante de la posición erguida.

Después de 2 horas, llegamos a la playa de Cabrera de Mar, que ya a las 11 estaba totalmente llena de bañistas, que miraban incrédulos como tres tipos estraños llegaban a la playa “como si estuviesen caminando sobre el agua”.

Saturday morning. It’s too early … the workweeks are more and more tiring as the holiday break aproaches … the night has been really hot, and it’s hard to sleep well … the alarm clock is set at 7.15AM … too hard … but it’s still harder that I do not really need an alarm clock, because Pol gets up at 7AM … and makes everybody know that he has woke up …

But I have an important appointment: 8.30AM at Cabrera with Oliver and Sergi, as the finish point for our I SUP Crossing from Montgat to Cabrera. A good one.

The first drawback was that our planned launching point was not accesible, so we had to drive a little south until “La Rotonda”, where our crossing started between hordes of people already populating the beach. The sea was calm as if it was an oil pool, the waters clear, making possible to see clearly the bottom, as we started paddling calmly to our finish point.

This is a fully coastal crossing, following the villages of Masnou, Premià, Vilassar and finally Cabrera, with the two ports of Masnou and Premià in the middle. The crossing was easy but long, because of the lack of wind, and a bit hard for me, because my injured heel started to pain from the start during the whole crossing, forcing me to make two stops in the middle to get time to the tendon to recover from the pressure of the standing position.

After tow hours we arrived to the Cabrera beach, which at 11.00 AM, was really, really crowded of people watching incredoulous how three strange guys were arrinving at the beach “as if they were walking on water”.
