Remando en Barcelona

Es casi verano. La temperatura ya está todos los días por encima de los 28ºC, altas presiones, un montón de gente en las playas … parecçia que el surf se había acabado hasta septiembre, pero este fin de semana tuve una sorpresa. Una grata sorpresa. Como mínimo, no todo está acabado. La guerra se pierde seguro, pero no esta batalla.

El viernes fui a remar un poco, sólo para hacer ejercicio, para remar un poco, pero sorprendentemente, me encontré en medio de olas pequeñas pero largas en La Caleta, que me hicieron cambiar rápidamente y pasar a hacer un poco de SUP surf con Oliver, que apareció media hora más tarde que yo.

El domingo fuimos con la familia (mirad la foto de Pol haciendo un test de mi remo de carbono) a echar un vistazo a la Nova Mar Bella, ya que hacía mucho tiempo que no iba y tenía ganas. Las condiciones no eran malas, las olas tenín un buen tamaño, pero algo han hecho en el fondo, porque estaba muy desordenado, y no rompían bien, eran cortas y no tenían fuerza para probar maniobras. Aparte de eso, el entorno esta hecho una porquería: la playa estaba llena de domingueros, el mar sucio por el mar de levante, la arena de la playa no era arena, sino tierra, el parking desastroso y sucio, la playa ya no tiene duchas, y se están cargando el surf con esos espigones. En que pena de ciudad se esta transformando Barcelona … perfecta para pasar una semana de vacaciones si eres guiri, pero una mierda de ciudad para vivir.

It’s almost summer. The temperature is above 28ºC every single day, high pressures, lots of people on the beach … seemed that surfing was over till september, but this weekend I had a surprise. A good one. At least is not all over. The was is lost, but not this battle.

On friday I went for some cruising, only to do some exercise, to train a little bit, but surprisingly I found myself between small but long waves at La Caleta, that made me change my decission, and go for some SUP surfing together with Oliver, that appeared half an hour later.

On Sunday I went together with the family (have a look at Pol testing my carbon paddle) to have a look at the Barcelona beach, at La Nova Mar Bella, it was a long time ago that I went there for the last time. The sea conditions were not bad, quite a good wave size, but the bottom of the beach is a mess and the waves don’t break well, and were short, and without enough power to try anything. Apart from that the environment now is awful. The beach was full of people, quite dirty because of the sea wind of these days, the sand is not beach sand, but dust, the parking lot is a mess, the beach lacks showers, and they are killing definetely the surf over there. What a pity of a city is Barcelona becoming … perfect for a week holiday if you come from abroad, but a shit of a city for living.
